Definition of hero - a person who, in the opinion of others, has special achievements, abilities, or personal qualities and is regarded as a role model or ideal - - I have two heroes, Misty Hyman and my dad. Misty caused one of the biggest upsets in 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, it wasn't her gold medal winning swim that inspired me but her personality. If you watch the line up before the race even starts she has a big beaming smile on her face. I've always been drawn to that, being happy I think is important but being happy in what you do is what I strive for. My dad flew helicopters over the North Sea for 27 years, it was a very high risk job. The tough conditions he faced especially in winter was frightening (he's even been struck by lightening whilst flying 3times ?), but in his spare time he coached me. He's shown me how hard work, persistence and patience pays off, he took big risks for our family and I will forever be grateful for what he has done. Watching the Winter Olympics just now and I look at these incredible athletes, their stories and who they are as people. I think I will be adding a few other names to my heroes list ? - - Who are your heroes?
