Sickbed thoughts on the infantilization of women. I'm reminded lately of how it's a grossly persistent presence in my experience of womanhood. I'm not talking about people trying to be kind or encouraging. There's a particular kind of praise women EDIT: AND FEMME/FEMALE IDENTIFYING HUMANS are fed that inherently infantilizes them and places value on availability/pliability/compliance/sweetness. Insidious stuff. It’s never vocab like engaging, charming, tenacious, graceful, interesting, intelligent, brave, exciting or original. An uninvited "you look so innocent, Princess" helps no one. PS: Saying this is NOT what sexism is. Come on now.
