@IronMaiden’s hit single “Run to the Hills” was released on this date, February 12, back in 1982. The track was the debut song from their third studio album ‘The Number of the Beast.’ That record — which was the first Maiden album to feature powerhouse vocalist #BruceDickinson — was a landmark release for the Brits, topping the U.K. Albums Chart and cracking the Top 40 of the ‘Billboard’ 200. While “Run to the Hills” — which told the story of the conflict between Native Americans and European settlers in the New World — was the record’s biggest hit, it was the album’s controversial title and artwork that caused the greatest stir (thanks to misguided accusations of Satanism from conservative Christians, which resulted in a few public burnings of the band’s catalogue) and forever cemented the band’s badass reputation. #musicmonday
