There is always debate in whether kids should attend private or public OR if high school sports are better or worse than club sports. —————— This weekend as I was humbled with the honor to be inducted into the first hall of fame class of canton high school, I was able to reflect on my own high school experience. ❣️❤️❣️ I attended a public high school that was in a unique school district that has ONE campus for all high school students. At 13 years old being on a campus of 6,000 students, I was a wide-eyed, lost freshman who came from a charter middle school of 75 students in my graduating class. My four high school years became some of the most nerve-racking and stressful, yet vital years of growth for me as a teen and prepared me for college and beyond. What made those years the most memorable was the opportunity to represent my school in a sport I love, swimming. Not only did joining a team give me an automatic tribe to walk the hallways with, but it taught me life lessons about team, discipline, and leadership. So even though I didn’t attend a fancy private school or continue “elite training” with my club team through high school swim season, I was still able to have success at the international level during high school and more importantly, I learned countless life lessons throughout my time there that helped me grow as an athlete and person. ————————— Not once did I think being a high school student was easy and I could not imagine what being a high school student is in todays world with social media and peer pressures, but I can tell you I am forever grateful for this part of my journey. I urge all you current and future high school students out there to venture out and join your school or community in a hobby that you may enjoy. Whether it be in sport, music, art, or another type of club, I can guarantee that it will teach you something about your self that your future self will thank you for‼️? P.S. where did those 10 years since high school go ???‍♀️? ———————- AND PS who wants a senior picture trading card ???
