A senior art director at @ModaOperandi, @itsracheleigh describes her aesthetic as less is definitely more. Take one look through her personal Instagram, and you’ll find all the hallmarks of a highly curated #Fashion Instagram account, complete with sparkly shoes, striking lines, and strategic pops of color. But if you look at her other Instagram account (@gryffindior), you’ll discover our favorite scenes from Harry Potter with a high fashion twist. It’s basically a haven for everyone who dreamed of living in Hogwarts but also owning a pair of @Dior shoes. ? So how exactly do you land a covetable job like hers? As you’d expect, it takes a lot of hard work. “I'm super passionate about my career. I've worked in fashion for the last eight years,” she tells Teen Vogue. She’s a former staffer, too, noting, “I did my first design internship with Teen Vogue. I’ve always loved what I do, and luckily I have a really fun job, so the work never feels like work.” As for what this not-work work looks like, allow her to explain: “I'm constantly on photoshoots and meeting all kinds of amazing creative people.” The Chicago native says her proudest moment was moving to New York City for college. “I had very specific goals in mind and I've been able to surpass those I originally set. I've really outdone my 17-year-old self,” she says. But while she’s since spread her wings, she still keeps very close to home; Rachel counts her mom, dad, and sister inspire her for different reasons. From her mom, she’s found her strength and wit; her dad inspires her with work ethic and wisdom; and her sister models compassion and loyalty. “It sounds like my family is all characters from the Wizard of Oz, but they're genuinely an amazing support system,” Rachel adds. Her advice for a great account? “An original idea goes a long way. The idea of [my Instagram] was intended to be humorous, so have fun, and don't take yourself too seriously.” #ShineTheory
