on set directing (& shooting) the shining, sparkling @エル・ファニング. (the only thing better than directing is directing with a camera in your hand & connecting with your actors during scene as an emotional & active participant). Starting out as a DP in the 90s, there weren’t very many of us women doing it at that time & now nothing pleases me more that at the ASC clubhouse it feels like that number of up and coming DPs (who happen to be women) has more than quadrupled. Now we just need some more female key grips!!
So whether you’re a director, a DP, a gaffer, a producer, a writer, an editor, a key grip, an electric, a pregnant boom op (Gioia ?) or a PA- you should share images of yourself doing what you love on set. • The world needs to see images of not only women directors but also *filmmakers*.
