One of the great joys of my life is seeing my parents interact with Bear and Squish. Watching the hands that carved and shaped my childhood hold onto the tiny fingers of the ones that I am now responsible for is magic. Intellectually, emotionally, logistically...magic. Because for the first time in my relationship with parents I fully understand why they look at me the way they do. With pride, and hope, and fear, and love. For all things that have happened and for the vast unknown of the things waiting to happen. It’s a perpetual flurry of possibilities and all we can do is hold onto those tiny fingers and tell them about how slippery the ice is, while still giving them the strength and courage to cross it. #littlebitofperfect
