If you like eating, you’ve got to go to Tasmania. The food here is just so wonderful. Forgive less than excellent photographs, but I needed to tell you about my dinner at @franklinhobart last night. So many exquisite plates. So, in reverse order of eating: chocolate cherry sundae, blueberry and blackcurrant clafoutis with sheep’s yogurt sorbet and - my particular favourite - crispy potato with brown butter and salted caramel (this may sound odd, but tastes like the lightest, most delectable and snap-able cream slice); wood-roasted littlewood lamb with grilled tropea onion; grilled octopus with sweet and sour currants and smoked almonds; wood-fired bread with spiced lamb, ricotta, mint and smoked chilli (another particular favourite of mine); raw albacore tuna with pickled gooseberry and soy-cured egg yolk; just-caught abalone, with guanciale, both thinly sliced, grilled and skewered. Actually, I did eat even more than this, and not one dish less than inspiring - creative but not fussy - and happy-making. And I loved watching the cooks working so calmly and peaceably in the open kitchen.
