Water-saving measures are becoming the norm in #SouthAfrica’s second-largest city, which is in the midst of a years-long #drought. Authorities warn #CapeTown is less than three months away from the situation becoming so dire that it must shut off its taps, an eventuality known as "Day Zero."

Based on current projections, "Day Zero" is forecast for April 12, according to officials.

From Feb. 1, the city has told its nearly 4 million residents they can use no more than 13.2 gallons of drinking #water a day in an effort to avoid "Day Zero." To put that in perspective, the average American uses an estimated 80 and 100 gallons of water daily, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
