I’m so fired up by this women’s movement and inspired by the people who have so courageously stood up for themselves bringing shocking and widespread injustices to light. They have created this passionate unity among men and women to fight for a cultural overhaul where each individual should be valued and respected equally. It takes us ALL looking at how we might unknowingly contribute to an environment in which so much of this shit has been accepted as “just how it is” and I’m so grateful to the strong men who are standing up in solidarity to fight this status quo as well. In the end though, I can only speak for myself, and I’ve always been a feminist, but I’m feeling even more empowered to fight where I can in my own life for equality and gently (or sometimes not so gently ?) call out disrespect towards women (AND men ??) where it pops up whether it is intentional or not and whether it comes from women or from men. It’s essential we understand this is a COLLECTIVE effort that will serve all of us better in the end! So I want to encourage all you girls and women out there to know your worth and demand what you deserve, socially, personally, and professionally (& not be afraid to say NO!) and the boys and men out there to know that your value and worth does not diminish by recognizing the strength, independence, and intelligence of the women in your life.
