AMC has announced that the #1 show on television for the last six seasons, its zombie drama #TheWalkingDead, has been renewed for a ninth season to premiere later this year.

Additionally, current showrunner Scott M. Gimple is being promoted to CCO overseeing the entire ‘Dead’ franchise including “Fear the Walking Dead” and other works. As a result of this move, co-executive producer Angela Kang is being promoted to executive producer and taking over as showrunner next season.
