From Columbus to US occupation, the history of Haiti is a complex tale of colonialism. For a locker-room president to either knowingly mimic his base, or just be a basic, uninformed racist regarding Haiti & Latin America, is a blatant slur on Americans themselves. He knows that they helped build and defend a country made from genocide, migration and hard work. Those from the ‘shitholes’ continue to do the work that the privileged don’t want to do as part of the capitalist system so cherished by the likes of Trump and enjoyed by all of us who eat and buy cheaply, and enable us all to consume unconsciously.
