Every Friday I get the honor of participating in my son’s 5th grade literature circle at his school. Sharing books with him and his classmates, talking about fiction and non-fiction, story and character development, plot points, rising action, foreshadowing and most of all, the feelings evoked from the experience of absorbing words on a page, getting lost in and being changed by story... it is everything to me that I get to dialogue with him (and his remarkably emotionally intelligent peers) in this way. That he leaves me a reminder on my bedside table is also, to me, the most exquisite love note. #booksaremagic
