Ill probably lose most of you about ... now. doing a bit of reflecting on 2017, with all its ups & downs, I realized I should be proud of facing some of my biggest demons. I had never felt the need to return to Korea from where I was adopted (not very happy memories) I have been told I have post traumatic stress syndrome which is usually brought on by extremely traumatic life experiences. I'm able to feel severe sympathy & pain for others but not for myself. "You talk about your past as if you're talking about the weather" is what my therapist has told me. We made the decision to go to Korea since our dear friends @kaylamarywilson + @peterashlee had their wedding there. It was beautiful by the way. We decided to look up the orphanage I came from having made the decision to adopt. As some of you know, after many failed Ivf attempts we were excited to look into this option. We were greeted by a social worker that had been there since my time at the orphanage. She pulled out my files along w/ my siblings. I found out that I was born in a small village with no hospital records to an abusive father. With no means to take care of us, after my mother died during child birth, the orphanage took us. I have not looked at the pictures again until now. Seeing my photos did not stir many emotions but the images of my siblings break my heart (not shown here) I can see the sadness, fear & pain in their body language & eyes. this is not about feeling sorry for myself but the realization that they're so many children/people in need. So what if the IVF failed? There is so much more to each of us & what we can give back to the world. My New Years resolution is to stop focusing on the small shit & being more grateful & just being a better, kinder human. That's a long story in a short paragraph.
