Discover how #Chenzhen's sixty-five foot long dragon, made of hundreds of bicycle inner tubes, was installed in the museum's rotunda for #ArtandChina. On loan from the Paris-based Pinault Collection, the work arrived in a deflated state. To ensure that no tubes lost air while on view, Guggenheim conservators tested hundreds of tubes for air leaks. Each tube was individually inflated using an air compressor, and then checked a day or two later see if it had lost any air. They ended up replacing about a hundred tubes, each woven back into the dragon’s “fabric.” Read more at guggenheim.org/blogs. #Guggenheim
