Repost from @kirstin: Hi all. I wanted to take a moment to thank everyone for their concern and support in regards to my condition last night. In more than 6 years of performing with Pentatonix, I have never considered not taking the stage. It is the absolute last thing I wanted to do and, until about 4pm yesterday, it wasn’t even something that was on my radar. On Monday, I had seen an ENT just to make sure I was in tip-top shape after getting over a sinus infection, something I regularly do because my vocal health and the performance I give to you guys is very important to me. He told me my vocal cords were healthy and prescribed lots of water, which I'd already diligently been drinking! All was seemingly fine until yesterday around our 4:30pm soundcheck when a pain began to develop in my stomach. By 5pm I was unable to keep any food or liquids down (I’ll assume you all know what I mean by this so I’ll spare you the icky details). I attempted to tough it out hoping it would pass, but by 6:30 it was clear that it was only getting worse and around 7pm our crew brought a medic to the venue to look at me to see if there was anything we could do to make performing possible. At this point they thought perhaps I was suffering from Hyponatremia and would potentially need my stomach pumped, so they made the call for me to go to the hospital. Until last night, I had never been in an ambulance or brought to an emergency room, but that’s where I was headed. I could barely stand, let alone speak, let alone sing or dance, but it still broke my heart to have to leave so many of our fans disappointed. I wanted to push through and go through any and every option before cancelling and not just me, but all of the amazing people around me - my bandmates, our crew, the whole Pentatonix team - really did everything they could. I was thankfully discharged late last night with what the doctors concluded was a severe - and obviously evil and fast-acting - stomach virus and today I am feeling better every hour! Hopefully, I will see everyone from last night’s show next Friday at our makeup date. I love you all so so sooo very much and am so thankful for you all. Kirstin.
