As if being a victim of sexual assault isn’t enough of a nightmare. Living with the trauma, the violation, and ultimately the vulnerability of realizing the abuse and how to walk through it, is nothing short of a grueling and painful experience. That journey is the path to survival...and it isn’t easy. My friend, @アリー・レイズマン, is a hero in many ways. To the world, she dedicated her life to a dream that brought pride and excitement to a country that needs a bright spot more than ever. She’s a role model for so many women and girls. She is articulate and kind and motivated and beautiful. She isn’t afraid to speak her truth. I have had the great fortune to know her personally. I have watched her set the bar incredibly high for what it means to know or love or even cross paths with a victim of sexual abuse. She’s unstoppable. A highly decorated Olympian, but an even more powerful human.
