TIME MAGAZINE PERSON OF THE YEAR Words fail me. I weep with pride, sadness, joy, exhalation, anger, trauma, vulnerability and again pride. To see my best friend of 17 years as Person of the Year for speaking her truth. A truth she told me many years ago. To see not only @therealselmablair but SEVERAL of my dearest friends, my sons Godmother, my peers on this list who have stood up in the face of grave danger to voice the silenced. Where our whispered conversations went from our living rooms to the worlds ears. My God it’s SO BEAUTIFUL that my heart aches knowing these pictures are worth more than a thousand words. These are the portraits of endured heartbreaking violations, humiliating degradation, trauma and triggers, assaulted bodies minds hearts and souls. These pictures are a reflection of ourselves, we are all in these portraits, our collective voices have been heard and through these images it is shared with all. These faces are our mirror revealing that the anguish of our experiences and choice to speak up in the face of tyranny has been heard. This is the reveal of what true strength, bravery, courage, perseverance and the miraculous will of the human consciousness to serve, protect and survive.
