This is my Granny; Beryl ( on her honeymoon in Bournemouth with my Grandpa, Jim in 1938 ). I wouldn’t say I was particularly close to her, but I did spend time with her most weekends ( mostly in her amazing garden ) when I was a child...When she died about 12 years ago, she basically bought me the shed, and I inherited not only some of her furniture, ceramics and books but more importantly a legacy of creativity which is now constantly with me...Why is it that we learn so much more about someone after their death? I would have loved to ask her about so much now; her passion for ikebana, her vast knowledge of plants, and her infinite ways of cooking. Instead I pour over her objects, her possessions and her books; trying to learn more from her in some way and I am always amazed ( and also very thankful ) that it was actually Beryl who turned out to be my unexpected and great inspiration...
