Ever see those folks who say they have a perfectly well mannered dog but once they go to visit a place such as the vet for example, the dog is uncontrollable and barks, pulls, or scratches at everything!? What dog owners tend to forget is that a well mannered dog AT HOME is not the same as a well mannered dog OUTSIDE the home. Socialization and desensitization to new environments is a very important part of your dogs life if you are wanting to have them with you outside of a home environment. Making time to take your dog to new places ie the park, outdoor mall, Home Depot, etc is a great way to reinforce behaviors and commands you’d like them to adhere too at all times.
