I first fell in love with photographing birds back in 2006, I was in South Africa on a 10 week shoot and I stumbled upon a magazine called “Africa Birds and Birding” at an Internet cafe. The photos inside were stunning, and it was an eye opener to how many incredible birds were in Southern Africa alone. I started noticing birds more and more each day, marveling almost for the first time as to how beautiful they are. On the quite days of the trip i would spend time in the field photographing the birds I saw, trying to get close, learning to hide, be patient and mostly observant. It was evident right away that bird photography was immensely challenging and I love how entertaining a challenge can be. As the years rolled by bird photography is something I’ve fallen more and more in love with and I’m lucky to now not only photograph and film birds recreationally but for assignments as well. I’m leaving today for my last shoot of the year, filming birds in Colombia for a commercial project with friend and director @greggbleakney and friend and cameraman @federicopardophoto. I’m very excited for what’s ahead, the experience and the beautiful birds I’m about to see! Lastly, this bird here is a common #magpie, a bird often seen in the americas and a member of the crow family. Even the most common birds are fascinating to look at, especially in flight.
