Dear Anita Hill,
A few of the things I wanted to tell you last night, but couldn’t make the words happen... Thank you for your voice and your strength and your courage. You made the world a slightly safer place for women, and created opportunities for us to protect ourselves when it is not. Without you, I may not have a voice to talk about my experiences. Without you, my best friend and millions of other women may still be silently suffering harassment and abuse. Millions still are, but you helped us learn that we can raise our voices to stop it. I remember learning about your experience through an episode of Designing Women I watched after school one day, and I never forgot it. When I think about the roots of my feminism, it is memories like that that come to mind. Your voice helped me find my own. You are an inspiration. Thank you!
