On Friday, @therealmariskahargitay and I were honored by @americangirlbrand for their #CharacterCounts award. The real brave and inspiring heroes of the day were my friend 10-year old Scarlett James, Founder of @the_scarlettfund, and 13-year old Amaya Scheer, founder of @comfortcases. Scarlett told her story of battling a rare form of lymphoma at age 6 for 2 years and Amaya spoke about not wanting one more child to have to carry their personal belongings in trash bags as they enter the foster care system, as Amaya did. Thank you American Girl for supporting the dreams of young girls. Your new store is the biggest physical commercial space dedicated to girls, probably in the world. Amazing corporate philanthropists.
