David Hallberg is @abtofficial’s noble prince par excellence. @officialdavidhallberg is the 1st American dancer to join the @bolshoiballet.us and a paragon of classical style. He is never quite satisfied with his work or himself. Since the start of his career, he has consistently avoided taking the easy path, and he loves to be drawn into challenging terrain. These themes are present throughout David’s memoir, “A Body of Work: Dancing to the Edge and Back,” out this week from Touchstone, almost a year after he returned to the stage following a painful 2-and-a-half-year injury-filled absence. “While I was writing, I really didn’t know what the outcome would be,” @officialdavidhallberg said. “The book could have had 1 of 2 endings; I could have not made it back onstage.” He did, thanks to a 14-month stint with the physical therapy team at the @ausballet in Melbourne. @officialdavidhallberg is relentlessly ambitious throughout: He must join Ballet Theater; he must become a soloist, then a principal. “It always seemed to me, if I can just get that, it will be my dream come true, a never-ending cycle of desires,” he said.
