The head of the New York City schools system says two staff members and two students were injured in a school bus that was struck on Oct. 31, 2017, during what New York City mayor Bill de Blasio called a "cowardly act of terror," the Associated Press reports. Efforts to rescue the occupants of the school bus were videotaped by Sebastian Sobczak, a local resident who recorded the aftermath on his phone. Eight people were killed and 12 others were injured in lower Manhattan on Tuesday when a driver struck several pedestrians on a busy bike path and a school bus. Officials said on Nov. 1 that the suspect, identified as Sayfullo Saipov, had been planning the attack for weeks and committed the act in the name of ISIS. The suspect, who exited his rented truck with imitation firearms and was shot by police officers, was taken into custody. An investigation into the attack is still ongoing.
