Pop artist #RoyLichtenstein was born on this day in 1923. In 1961 Lichtenstein began to make paintings consisting exclusively of comic-strip figures, and introduced his Benday-dot grounds, lettering, and balloons. In "Interior with Mirrored Wall" (1991), Lichtenstein explores the illusion of reflective glass, and references his own work, which is shown framed on the wall, as well as Henri Matisse’s use of decorative patterns in the floor covering.
