One year ago, Hurt overdosed on heroin while her infant son slept in the backseat of her car. A police photo of her went viral, turning her into a symbol of America's opioid crisis.

On Sunday, Hurt celebrated a year of sobriety, a journey that began with the Oct. 22, 2016 overdose ─ and that picture. She is now glad it happened, and is back home, raising her boy.
