Today we introduce @justinetjallinks ✨Justine Tjallinks presents a selection of images from "La Trahison des Images",an autobiographical series that through metaphor reflects on her oppressed youth, and how she felt during that period in time. Inspired by artist René Magritte, the works feature dark skinned models placed in a surreal world, allowing infinite creativity that moves beyond what the eye beholds as truth.The photos question the perceptions of the viewer, in a way Magritte did in his works. His famous painting of a pipe was accompanied by the words “Ceci n’est pas une pipe” in order to provoke the viewers thinking.This series aims to capture the dark undertone of oppression, whilst at the same time celebrating the strength to overcome✨
