'In 1973, on November 24th, this DC-3 from the US Navy crash landed on the black sands of
Sólheimasandur Beach. Luckily, the crew survived the impact of the crash, but the fuselage of the plane still remains to this day, after being beaten by 44 years of Icelandic weather. The reason for the crash is still a mystery – some suggest that the captain selected the wrong switch, resulting in the crew running out of fuel, but that is pure speculation.
