This moment happens in the pas de deux from George Balanchine’s Rubies. Patricia McBride is very specific with the parts choreographed by Mr.Balanchine for her. This particular moment has to be at just the right angle to achieve this iconic pose. Although Rubies premiered in 1957 it still feels very contemporary in how it pushes the range of motion to absolute extremes. Always one of my favorite to perform ❤️ - Alessandra Ball James
