In an unexpected and emotional appearance in the White House briefing room on Oct. 19, 2017, Chief of Staff John Kelly denounced a Democratic congresswoman who said President Trump had been disrespectful during a condolence call to the family of an American soldier who was killed during an ambush in Niger earlier this month. Invoking the death of his own son, who was killed in Afghanistan in 2010, Kelly lashed out at Florida Rep.
