15 years ago, I began my career with this beautiful film, REAL WOMEN HAVE CURVES. I couldn't have known then just how rare it would remain for films to center on the inner lives of women of color. I am forever grateful to writer @josefinalopezdeleage for persisting till her story was told- not only as the incredibly lucky actress who got the once in a lifetime chance to portray Ana, but as a Latina woman who still hungers to see more authentic and complex portrayals of women from all walks of life.
