My favorite genre of film is, without a shadow of a doubt, horror - I love anything and everything to to with it! Horror movies are a form of art. Most people think that they are all the same; however, that is not true at all. In theory, there are three basic types of horror film: the supernatural, the scientific, and the naturalistic. But this can be broken down even further: there's slasher, torture-porn, psychological, thriller, apocalyptic, supernatural, suspense, and comedy; and then these sub-genres can be further broken by cinematic style depending on where the story originated from (with some of my favorite horrors being from Japan, South Korea, Spain, Mexico, England and Australia). Horror movies temporarily create the emotional experience of fear without the devastating consequences - because in reality no psychotic killer, ghostly demon or chainsaw wielding murderer is truly after you (at least, I hope not!). Fear is a relatively rare and infrequent experience. This strange, exotic feeling can intoxicate you like a drug. Some try it for the first time and are hooked, while others retch in disgust.
