I just learnt how SHARKS was spelt in French.... Over a decade ago I traveled to the Galapagos and was awoken from my ignorance. I had no idea how much trouble so many reefs & species were in. Sure I knew about the plastic and global warming was the catch phrase before climate change took its place but I had no idea we were killing 100,000,000 sharks every year. At the time 50% of the Great Barrier Reef was dead now of which 60% is gone. I stood atop the boat one night under the Milky Way and thought about it all and realized my kid(s) would very likely NOT get a chance to experience many of the things I'd seen over the years. In that moment I made a #DECISION to do all I could to help #SHARKS. I picked that species because with so many issues I figured best to pick one and focus my energy on that particular issue. I was also fascinated with sharks. So from that moment on that's what I did, everything I could do to spread the word. Try and raise as much awareness as I could about their plight. This book at that time was a dream, a bit of a fantasy thought but isn't that how any goal starts? I saw this book in my head and how it could be such a great tool to spread the message. To see it printed in so many languages gives me hope that the more decisions we all collectively make, the more these dreams we have can become a reality. In a couple weeks I travel back to the Galapagos where it all started for me. I will be teaming up with a number of scientist on an expedition with multiple goals. To top it off we will be aboard the SHARKWATER boat named after my pal the late Rob Stewart who passed away last year in the field following his passion to protect our oceans. #makeAdecision
