Let's discuss the 2nd amendment, aka the only part of the bill of rights republicans seem to care about.
1-the context is painfully clear: the founding fathers believed in a well regulated militia as an 18th century bulwark against tyranny. It's the FIRST line of the 2nd amendment text. Nothing about individual gun ownership.
2-all of these gun lunatics talking about gun ownership as a way to stave off 21st century tyranny.
Really??
In the 18th century the military had muskets and the local militias had muskets.
Now gun nuts have rifles and the military have nuclear weapons and aircraft carriers and Abrams tanks.
Dear @NRA members, if the military wants to take your land your guns won't do much to stop them.
So, to re-cap: the founding fathers CLEARLY never wanted individuals to own weapons of mass destruction.
And no gun collection will be of much use in fighting off a military who have icbm's and bunker busting nuclear weapons.
So: case closed.
Or it would be if our country and its elected officials weren't dimwitted, mentally ill, or crippled by cowardice. I truly wonder how members of the @nationalrifleassociation and the @gop sleep at night with so much innocent blood on their hands.
