I just found out it's deaf dog awareness week. ?? When we started fostering BB, I wasn't sure how this was going to work out, especially with her behavior issues on top of her deafness. Fast forward 7 months, I hardly ever think about the fact that she is deaf. Through training, bonding, and learning to communicate without sounds, we established a totally different kind of relationship. I have gotten so used to her and Cooper (both with hearing impairment) I often forget other dogs can hear me. ? I enjoy "talking" to BB with sign language. I love watching her light bulb turn on and I love when we are able to understand each other.
I hope others will be encouraged to foster and/or adopt deaf dogs. ?#adoptadeafdog
