“She embodies to me the perfect muse,” says @OFF-WHITE C/O VIRGIL ABLOH’s founder Virgil Abloh (@ヴァージル・アブロー), about Princess Diana, whose style inspired his latest #SS18 collection for #pfw. “She’s a symbol of a modern young woman, was like sort of like Cinderella, larger than life,” he adds, speaking to Vogue from his studio in Paris while castings take place. Well timed to the 20th anniversary of her death, the collection features boxy wool jackets, cycle shorts and voluminous tulle dresses with pumps and stiletto boots done in collaboration with Jimmy Choo. Abloh throws the net wide when it comes to shaping his collections, sharing his work as it develops, and taking in feedback from interns and social media followers alike. “As a designer you put things out and it's up to people to interpret it,” he says. “For me it's about fulfilling this sort of creative drive, it's like a therapeutic thing, I like to create things and see them in real life.” See our exclusive preview with the designer in our Instagram Stories.
