Photo and text by Ben Mikha @BenMikha | My favourite scenery. I’ve seen many landscapes during my travels but my favourite will always be the tropics. On this day, myself and a couple of friends had been searching for the best place to shoot sunset from on the West Coast of Oahu. Golden hour approached and we hadn’t found any vantage points that wowed us. We continued to drive down the Western highway when I caught a glimpse of a man setting his hammock up. I asked my friend to pull over, she was slightly confused as we were in search for an “epic” spot yet here we were pulled over at a small grass patch on the highway. I walked up to the guy setting up his hammock and made conversation, shortly after we set ours up on the same tree, as we shared stories while the sun disappeared beyond the horizon. This day taught me that beauty can be found in the simplest places, often we get so deeply invested in searching for something that we miss whats already happening around us. It’s not just a location or a setting that makes moments beautiful, but also the company we keep. Happiness is real when shared.
