Some of the incredible @runteamemc at the Brandenburg Gate where we will pass through to reach the finish of the @berlinmarathon this Sunday. It is a thrill beyond words to be here with some of the OG's from our very first marathon on behalf of @everymomcounts in NYC in 2011 and others I have met and run with since in Jacmel, Haiti, Chicago, Boston, San Francisco, Reykjavik, Iceland, and Moshi,Tanzanina. We run so mothers don't have to in labor - and to improve access to timely and appropriate maternity care before, during and post delivery. Every mother deserves the highest quality care possible and while that may differ from city to city, village to village, and country to country, this is a goal we can achieve together. Germany has had a comprehensive healthcare system addressing maternal health issues since 1966. 86% of Germany's population receives statutory health care insurance program. According to the WHO, Germany ranks 18th in the world in terms of its maternal mortality rate (the US is ranked 46th). Let's do better for our mothers and families!
