You know today I felt like giving up with this cause. It's sometimes too much to handle and so draining with all the sad stories and photos you send me of declawed cats. But a supporter sent me this heartbreaking photo that was posted by @saintfrancisvet today. ??
I realized that I must continue, no matter how hard it is because too many cats like poor little KC are being subjected to this unnecessary cat cruelty and torture in the hands of licensed professional vets.
This is a American Association of Feline Practitioners CAT FRIENDLY and American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) hospital. Those titles mean NOTHING when it comes to declawing. In fact those two organizations are afraid to stop allowing declawing in their vet clinics because they will lose too many memberships from these declawing vets if they do. #Greed over the welfare of cats. ??? When a first time cat owner calls this practice and asks for a spay and then a declaw their employee asks, "Do you want two or four paws?" The cat owner asks what do they suggest. Employee says, "we recommend just two paws because they don't ruin your furniture with their back claws." This owner vet uses a "special clippers" to do the declaws. The cat owner asked if there are any long term negative consequences to declawing and they say no and that your cat just needs to restrict its activity for 7-10 days. They charge $390-$510 for a front paw declaw but say that you can save money by doing the spay/declaw together which is $468-583. Cat owner asked if the vet is skilled at the declaws and employee said, "We do them all the time." They say that Purina 's Yesterday's News is included in the declaw cost.
