I love meeting fams!!! When I was 20 and in my first band, I was a bike messenger and delivered large sums of money and important architectural and legal documents, long before electronic banking and secured dropboxes. I rode rain or shine and delivered 50+ times a day. Each drop meant 4 elevator rides: up the elevator to pick up, down to get on my bike, up again to drop off and down to get back on my bike. I'm claustrophobic as fuck and 200 elevator rides a day was a challenge!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But in those elevators I learned to say hello to complete strangers and how it impacted my moment and theirs. Most people ignored me, but it made my day better and my elevator ride less frightening, if they smiled back and so I did it anyway. People rarely thanked me for delivering them checks and docs, but I learned to always be kind to them when I met them and as a result, I got to know some of them by name and looked forward to seeing them when I did.

So today when someone waits at the end of a show to say hello or grab a selfie, or meets me in a restaurant or on the street, or stays out late in the parking lot, I am grateful they wanna show me they care about my music or beliefs and I love taking the time to show them I care back.
