Huge congratulations to my friend @nicolaslopez on his release this weekend. Many of you know we have made a lot of films together but for Nico this was a true triumph. He made a film in Chile for less than $1 million in Spanish and it not only broke records in Mexico where it made ten times its budget, but this weekend it has a wide release here. He made a comedy really tackling homophobia and machismo in his culture and it has turned into a phenomenon where closeted kids in Mexico are taking their homophobic parents to see it and then explaining they're gay. It's an incredible movie, so funny and smart and it has a nationwide release. But Nicolas grew up on Amblin films so to see his little movie on a marquis next to his idol is pretty damn spectacular.
