Look who's on their way to my house! ? I'm fostering for @bfas_la ! #BestFriends has a goal of getting #LA completely no-kill by the end of the year. It's an achievable goal- but it relies on people opening their hearts & homes to foster for a few weeks. You get the honor of seeing kittens thru those crucial first few weeks til they are a healthy 2 pounds & adoptable: shelters just don't have the financial or human resources to give the attention needed like we can. And in return, you get daily cuddles, you get to watch those babies blossom, & you get to know that you played a crucial part in saving their lives (from euthanasia at an over-crowded shelter) & helped get them to their forever homes. I know it seems like it would be hard to do (because you have to give them up so soon)- but believe me, getting to share this time is the best feeling in the world.
And if you live near the areas affected by #HurricanHarvey, you can also help by giving a displaced pet a place to stay til everybody gets back on their feet! Pets are so often a lower priority in natural disasters, & local care centers can be over-run- it means EVERYTHING when folks offer to help.
We're all in this together. When we open our hearts & help each other, we save not only anyone we can help, but we save ourselves too. It's true grace.
