This photo was taken yesterday of the suburb my sister lives in in the Houston area. She is one of the lucky ones whose home is not flooded. She is a nurse and was not working the day the flood began but 95% of the roads around her are flooded. She is supposed to go to work today but will not be able to get through. The hospital staff where she works have been working for the last 48 hours. They are stranded at the hospital away from their families. My sister says the resilience of the community is humbling. Neighbors helping each other. Strangers coming to each other's aid. Everyone working together from all different walks of life. But Houston will need our help to get through this.
