Today I poured my heart and soul into one of the most detailed essays I've ever written. The 2017 State of the Blog Union is my honest, frank and detailed look at how the blog world has changed and what that means for those of us who run them (or any online platform) for a living.
I break down the financial eco-system of blogs, how blogs themselves have changed, how expectations from advertisers AND readers has changed and what that all means for the community and us at D*S.

I spent a week working on this and consulting with colleagues and it felt really good to be this open and transparent about how difficult things can be, but also rewarding, when you're an independent blog/website/publisher/business owner. I would love to hear your thoughts on how things have changed and what you're excited about or if we share some of the same challenges and pain points. (Some of mine are the devaluing of content and content creators and struggling to find ways to create meaningful dialogue).
