Dozens of killings in recent days in the Philippines made for the deadliest week yet in President Rodrigo Duterte's bloody crackdown on drugs, which has left thousands of suspected users and pushers dead since he took office in June 2016. One night in Bulacan, a massive raid led to 32 deaths, much higher than the campaign's previous one-day high, local media outlet @rappler reports. "That's good," Duterte was quoted as saying, after learning of the toll. "If we can only kill 32 every day, then maybe we can reduce what ails this country." The Department of Justice ordered an investigation into one case, the death of a 17-year-old student in Caloocan City on Aug. 16. Authorities said the student, Kian, shot in their direction and they responded in self-defense, Rappler reports, but CCTV footage and witnesses said the boy was dragged to the scene where he was fatally shot. Here, a selection of scenes from the drug war's deadliest week yet. Photographs by Noel Celis (@noelcelis)—@afp/@gettyimages and Ezra Acayan (@ezra_acayan)—@epaphotos
