Words cannot express how proud I am of the following headline: NATIONAL PORTRAIT GALLERY ACQUIRES ITS LARGEST GROUP OF PORTRAITS OF AFRO-CARIBBEAN SITTERS. I made these portraits during the filming for the BBC TWO documentary Black is the New Black. Many of you have been asking what next. We've been working hard behind the scenes to bring you a long lasting legacy. I am proud to be able to say today that everyone of the people photographed by me during the series will have their portrait on display in the permanent collection at the National Portrait Gallery. I want to thank OATH (formerly AOL) for helping me to donate these portraits. And I thank the trustees of the NPG for thinking these worthy of such a prestigious honour. These portraits will out live us and it my hope that these people who took the time to come and sit for me will be remembered for what they achieved and will continue to inspire future generations for centuries to come. I will be talking about the acquisition, the exhibition and the making of the portraits at the NPG 7pm on August 24.
