Sadly, I am not surprised by the existence of racist, homophobic, anti-Semitic, white nationalists in this country. I read the paper, I watch the news- and while I reap the benefits of white privilege I have dealt with homophobia and/or anti-Semitism for my whole life. In fact, I have a tendency to announce that I am Jewish around new people to prevent an awkward situation, say when a cheque arrives.... it's gross. People are gross. However, I am horrified that The President Of The United States of America has cultivated a climate where hate filled people feel emboldened to march down city streets and violently beat and murder those who would dare challenge them. Hoods off. Proud. Demanding attention. Well, they have it. I refuse to stop shouting about the fact that we need to come together and show this piece of shit in the Oval Office and all his followers that WE KNOW where this goes and we WILL NOT clear a path for them. I implore you to continue to inform yourself instead of burying your head in the sand. Trust me, I would love to watch Netflix and pretend this isn't happening, but it is.
