This photo, this nightmare, this hate...I often feel so heartbroken that I wish that if I just closed my eyes tight enough, this violence and ignorance will subside. I know it's silly, but I feel scared and traumatized. No man should have to stand and protect an evil mob that wishes him harm. Yet, this gentleman does and he somehow gives me hope. He's an example of what it means to rise above, no matter what. #hope is what I cling to. It's certainly not enough to just live in that space. We need to continue to do everything we can to demand we come back to a country that is a safe haven for all races, ethnicities, and PEOPLE. PEOPLE who believe in the foundation we have spent lifetimes fighting for in hopes of uniting our 'one Nation, under God'. Thank you officer. Your character shines bright...so bright I can barely see the ignorant assholes that stand behind you.
