For this week’s installment of #TigersFanFridays, meet Cloud, who has grown to be a better speaker thanks in part to regularly watching the #Tigers every day.
Cloud is four years old, and has been watching with his family since he was only a year old. From Lincoln Park, MI, Cloud practices being a sportscaster in the mirror and gets excited any time he sees his family or friends wearing Tigers gear. “He runs straight for you and starts telling you all about (the team),” his mom, Jessica says.
Cloud has autism, and doctors told his family that he might not ever be vocal, Jessica says. But watching the Tigers “brought him out of his shell and gave us a great starting point,” she adds. His first words were “Detroit Tigers” and Jessica notes he “can read, write, knows all of his shapes, letters, and numbers.” He knows every team in Major League Baseball as well as the NFL, NBA and NHL.
Arriving from a long line of Tigers fans, Cloud was raised to root for the Tigers. Last year, Cloud made it to his first #Tigers game, where he got to watch his favorite players, Miguel Cabrera and Justin Upton. Tonight, he’ll be at home watching, where he’s been known to say, "This is Cloud Jurlin, Fox Sports Detroit."
